Hertfordshire Heathland

Berkhamsted Golf Club

Berkhamsted Common, Hertfordshire. A 1890 heathland club of gorse, heather and a Bronze Age dyke, with no man-made bunkers, designed by Park and Colt and reworked by Braid.

Berkhamsted Golf Club sits on Berkhamsted Common in Hertfordshire, in around 560 acres of natural heathland on the edge of the Chilterns. Founded in 1890, it is one of the oldest clubs in the county and describes itself as golf as nature intended.

Brocket Hall

Welwyn, Hertfordshire. A Georgian estate of Lord Melbourne and Lord Palmerston with two championship courses, a lakeside restaurant and a 16-bedroom lodge, about 22 miles from London.

Brocket Hall is a Georgian country estate in Hertfordshire, about 22 miles from central London and roughly 15 minutes north of M25 junction 23. The Hall itself was completed in 1768 to a design by Sir James Paine. It later became the home of Lord Melbourne, Queen Victoria's first Prime Minister, whose sister Emily married Lord Palmerston in 1839, and Victoria was a frequent visitor.

The Grove

Chandler's Cross, Hertfordshire. A five-star country estate with its own Kyle Phillips championship course, a spa and five restaurants, close to Heathrow and the M25.

The Grove is a five-star hotel and golf resort at Chandler's Cross in Hertfordshire, on a 300-acre estate that was once the home of the Earls of Clarendon. It sits close to Heathrow and the M25 and is about 18 miles from central London, according to the resort.
