West Hill Golf Club is a classic heathland course at Brookwood near Woking in Surrey, around 33 miles south-west of central London. Established in 1907, it is described by the club as arguably the prettiest of Surrey’s famous three Ws, alongside Woking and Worplesdon, and is ranked 71st in Golf Monthly’s Top 100 courses in Great Britain and Ireland for 2025/26.
The course is a par 69 of about 6,400 yards, threaded through towering Scots pines and drifts of purple heather. The Brookwood stream comes into play on six holes, the greens are known for their natural undulations and the bunkering is well placed. The five par threes are among its stiffest tests, and the par-five 17th and the dogleg-left 3rd are two of the holes most often singled out by reviewers. The course is easy to walk and offers scoring chances as well as challenge. It also hosts the Father and Son Foursomes, a tradition dating back to 1929.
