The Castle Hotel Windsor is a historic town centre hotel at 18 High Street, opposite the Guildhall and a one-minute walk from Windsor Castle. The site began in 1528 as The Mermaid Inn and became a coaching house, awarded Royal Warrants to supply horses and carriages to the royal household. It is now part of the Sutton Hotel Collection, with 108 bedrooms that have been redesigned in a £9.5 million refurbishment, including six new Mews rooms created from former stables.
There is no golf course at the hotel, and it suits a trip where the golfers want a characterful base in Windsor rather than a country estate. The town is a short drive from the heathland courses of Berkshire and Surrey, including Sunningdale, Wentworth and Swinley Forest.
