The Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa is a four-star Victorian country house hotel at Sunninghill near Ascot in Berkshire, set in its own gardens and just a few minutes from some of the most famous heathland golf in England. Built in the 1870s and rebuilt after a fire in 1886, the hotel has more than 120 bedrooms and suites, including characterful turret rooms, following a £10 million redevelopment in 2006 that added the spa and 39 bedrooms.
There is no golf course at the hotel itself, but its position suits golfers well. Sunningdale is a five-minute drive away according to the hotel, Swinley Forest is only a short distance further and Wentworth is around four miles away, with The Berkshire also within easy reach. After a round, the thermal spa offers six treatment rooms, an 18-metre swimming pool, rock and infra-red saunas, an aroma steam room, an ice igloo and an outdoor hydro-pool set in the gardens. Drinks and dining can be taken indoors or on the Royal Enclosure Terrace & Gardens.
The hotel is around 1.7 miles from Ascot Racecourse and about 10 miles from Heathrow, with the M3, M4 and M25 all close by. Ascot station has trains to central London in under an hour.
